Spectra Precision has announced the release of Terramodel^® 9.7; the latest version of the powerful three-dimensional surveying, ground modelling, design and drafting software. Enhancements include a new Raw Data Editor and Import/Export Wizard. Ian Briffett, Senior Software Specialist at Spectra Precision, comments, “We have taken huge steps to meet the demanding requirements of surveyors and engineering surveyors by providing a sophisticated and universal import interface plus a rigorous computations and adjustments package.” 

The new Raw Data Editor (RDE) allows Terramodel to convert any raw survey data, irrespective of its source, into a single, easy to manage database. On opening, the RDE automatically routes all possible traverses, computes all potential intersections, resections and hanging legs and then computes all the detail. Multiple rounds of observations, made in any order to any number of stations, can be reduced, computed and adjusted in 2D or 3D. Methods include traditional techniques such as Bowditch and Transit and entire networks can be adjusted using Least Squares. Following computation, the data is presented graphically with all observations, traverse routes and error ellipses displayed. Subsequent changes to the raw data are automatically reflected in the computed co-ordinates.

Downloading and importing raw data is handled by the new Import Wizard, which will interface with practically any type of data logger or instrument. Raw data is processed via the RDE, co-ordinate data appears automatically in the graphics area, whilst road alignment data is used to create a road project within the Roadway module. The Export Wizard transfers data from stored files or graphics directly to formatted data files or data collectors. Terramodel 9.7 is able to import or export a fully finished and annotated drawing or design to any of the standard graphical formats found in the UK market including Moss GENIO, AutoCAD DWG and DXF and Microstation DGN.  

Terramodel has been developed to meet the surveying, ground modelling, design and drafting needs of the Civil Engineering, Surveying, Construction and Mapping professions.
